“Anytime you want to you can turn me onto, anything you want to, anytime at all. When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do is take a look at you, then I'm not so blue.” ……..“A Groovy Kind of Love” Phil Collins

This song by Phil Collins is obviously a love song between two people, however, the two lines above has me thinking; “what if we looked at God in the same light?” “I can do ALL things though Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13  Anytime he wants to, he can turn us into anything he wants to, anytime at all. All long as we seek God’s will, in faith, we can move the mountains in our lives and become, according to his will, anything we want, and a little faith goes a long way. “He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 Well, you my say: “that verse is limited to God’s will for my life or it’s conditional, and while that may be true to an extent, we have these promises, just to quote a few: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11…. “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4…. and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6  With faith and a relationship with Christ anything is possible.

The second line makes me think of Joy. Dr. Tony Evans, author of “The Kingdom Man” and pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, says; “Joy is being happy regardless of your circumstances.” Happiness is an emotion that comes when the sun shines bright in our life, but Joy is a fruit of the Spirit that comes rain or shine if we will put our focus on God. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13  If Phil had been writing a gospel song, it might have ended up like this; “When I’m feeling blue, all I have to do is take a look at Him, then I’ll start to grin!”

Smile this week, we have a great God!
