Frequently Asked Questions
What is sin?

Deliberate disobedience to the will of God. This can be things we consider to be bad things like lying, stealing, or jealousy. It can also be neglecting to do things that are good such as praying or reading the Bible.

"For a man to do good and not do it, to him it is sin."  James 4:17

Where did sin come from?

When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, he gave them one rule: they could not eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Because, if they would eat of the tree they would die. Satan tempted Eve telling her: "You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Genesis 3:4-5

When Eve saw that she didn't die she gave the fruit to Adam to eat. What Eve didn't realize is she had immortality and would never die, but when she ate the fruit, perfection was ended and their days were numbered.

What else resulted from the fall of Adam and Eve?

To Eve God said: "I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.”   Genesis 3:16

To Adam God said: “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife
and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”    Genesis 3:17-19
