Hope for the Week

"If someone wants to find me, those are the groups they should look for." ...Jesus from "The Chosen," Season 2 2019

In the show "The Chosen," Jesus is preparing the sermon on the mount with Matthew. He tells Matthew that He wants the opening, which we know as the Beatitudes, to be a map. Matthew listens as Jesus goes over them and then questions, "Yes, but how is it a map?" While Jesus' response that I listed above is created as filler content for the show and not actual scripture, it spoke volumes to me. Do we live our lives in a manner that if someone was seeking answers and looking for Jesus, would they even think about us? When you think about movies like "Indiana Jones" or "National Treasure," there is always something of great value to find, but you must first find the people that can lead you to it.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 We live in a dark, evil world that needs a savior and we can be that light that lights the path, the map that shows the way. I'll end with the Beatitudes and as you read them, ask yourself: "Are these the characteristics of my life? Is this how I shine my light? Am I a map to Jesus that others will seek out and gladly follow?"
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
  For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
  For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
  For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
  For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil

against you falsely for My sake."  Matthew 5:3-11

Remember, there are non-believers watching how you live. Live for God, because your life may be the only church service they ever attend.

May God bless you this week!
